So your meal may be enjoyed on the comforts of a beach blanket, or the grass, either way, you'll be glad that you came. Cost to cover the BBQ, pop and continuous games and entertainment is $2 for children and $5 for adults, or $15 for a group or family (including up to 3 kids – ages 3-15 years old). For more information, visit http://www.soarbc.ca/ The Southern Ontario Alumni Reunion (S.O.A.R. BC) has brought together alumnus for the past 10 years. It has now entered its 11th year. Situated at Jericho Beach Park Pond, hundreds of transported alumni from Southern Ontario's Universities, have long come to make connections with their alma mater, participating in the various games for young and old, while relaxing by the waters of the Pacific Ocean. The 11th Annual SOAR BC BBQ is hosted for the multitude of grads that have moved to Vancouver. It's one way to stay connected to your respective school, while donning a pair of flip-flops and shorts in a casual environment. The masters of this idea are former Co-Founders, Lorenz Bruechert (Laurier) and Jeff Epstein (Waterloo). Their concept 11 years ago…"Why not bring together people that have migrated across the country, and put them in a comfortable situation where they can reconnect, make new friends, and enjoy the beauty of Vancouver?" Each participating school is able to offer their help by having a school rep, and gift giveaways as a way to ensure that alumni know their school appreciates their alumni. The BBQ has always been a success these past 11 years due to the part of the volunteers that make up the committee, and those that help on the day of the event. We are grateful to all the sponsors that have donated prizes or food in the past. This year our event will be held on Sunday June 22, 2008, at Jericho Beach Park Pond. Same time every year is noon – 4pm. Look for your school banner and join in on the fun. Our door prizes and raffles will be sure to entice even the most conservative grad. Show your support this year, and come out. Even if it is just for the taste of summer, you'll be glad that you participated in Canada's Largest Joint University Event! Hope to see you all!
